World International School Cambodia's social program - using the MOE Singapore curriculum for primary schools framework of holistic education methodologies – facilitates and promotes skills for learning, empathy, emotion management and conflict management.

Senior board members at WISC who have first-hand experience with adopting and practising the Singapore holistic methodologies in Cambodia for over 15 years, have seen and experienced tremendous sustained positive development in children in classrooms and playgrounds.

This is supported by research going back more than two daces which shows that structured holistic learning programs have shown to improve pro-social skills and behavior by 50% leading to a 10% gain in academic improvement.

Pro-actively combating bullying, holistic learning methodology works to improve behavior, positivity and academic performance. The social general curriculum teaches these critical life skills weekly to all students from Pre-Nursery through Primary 3.

From Primary 4 through grade 12, we use the include an additional character building program in the form of our uniformed group- the children Brigade on a  weekly basis to supplement and enrich the existing holistic methodology by covering more advanced areas of personal and social education in further preparation for more advanced education and life beyond the classroom.

The aim of WISC’s Social Program is to develop student’s well-being, both socio-emotionally and academically, in the spirit of the Singapore holistic education ethos, as global minded, skilled, life-long learners.

Our Social Advisory Program and Curriculum has been developed based on recommendations from the MOE Singapore holistic methodology content as well as looking at pastoral contents from leading practitioners across the USA, UK and Australia, to create a unique program for WISC that encompasses our international context and our local surroundings.

The curriculum is spiral and vertically aligned, so that students progressing through the grade levels at WISC, graduate the Basic, Junior and Senior categories, with a strong foundation of social-emotional independence, internationally-minded views and skills as life-long learners.

Our program and our students are supported by Advisors (Form teachers), Supervisors, Academic Director and Principals. We have high expectations of our students and embrace the attributes of the Singapore Education holistic methodology ethos. As such, we create an environment and expectations in our school where all feel safe and can thrive in addition to encouraging all students to become responsible, self-regulating, contributing citizens of the school and the communities around them and the world at large.
