WISC Soccer is a year-round developmental and competitive sport at World International School Cambodia. As a school community, we are continually striving to provide the best teaching and learning experiences for our students, thus are ambitiously exploring ways we can seek international partnerships with reputable developmental organizations such as the Liverpool Football Club Foundation in India and Real Madrid Foundation’s work in Singapore. This is an ambitious approach in developing the soccer and WISC is looking forward to getting positive feedback from such partnerships so as to enable us to offer different kind of programs, both recreational and competitive, for students from Kinder 2 to Grade 12.
Soccer was our first sports discipline at WISC and has continued to be an option for sporting development and competition for our student athletes. By virtue of this early start; soccer is one of our largest sports on offer, with a high level of participation from our students with several age groups: U12, U14, U16
WISC’s focus at the foundational level is to maximize participation. “No Child Left Behind - Sport” is followed in each sport that is offered. The aim is to develop basic skills, prepare for competition and ignite a love for the sport. A measure of our success with your child will be evident in the play time and personal development registered each term.
WISC primary focus at this level is on using the gains from the foundation level to continue developing skills, knowledge and rules of the game. Emphasis is placed, not only, on the overall growth and welfare of the athletes, through maximum participation, but also on the continued development of your child holistically. We use the developmental levels as the foundation for the more advanced and demanding higher levels.
The aim at this level in the WISC program is to refine the basic skills of your child and to develop his/her application within the sport. In essence, we strive to continue to develop the “basic skills”. Additional emphasis on being competitive is introduced at this phase of an individual or group development process while maintaining the maximum participation mantra.
At the top the WISC sports program approach to your child’s development, more emphasis is placed on being competitive and as a result adequately preparing for the added demands and challenges these higher levels will bring long. For championship tournaments we aim to field our most competitive team. Players earn their game time throughout the season through their performance in matches and training.
We have vibrant soccer team for girls. The Year Round Program allows practice to take place at the WISC Sports Field every week. This program is directed towards all the girl students from Grade 4 to Grade 12.
The objective of this program is to have our girls’ soccer community training together all the year round and to encourage more students to join our soccer program.
