About the Program

WISC Table Tennis Academy, comprises of two Indomitable table tennis teams: The WISC  Cubs and WISC Indomitable Panthers; The WISC Cubs is represented by students from Grade 2 to 4 and undergo training to focusing on the basics such as correct grip, stance and footwork, followed by forehand drive technique and backhand top spin close to the table. The WISC Indomitable Panthers is represented by students from Grade 6 to 12 and their main goal is to compete at both local and international competitions representing the school. All training sessions are geared towards performance.

In line with the WISC foundational approach in all sports activities, the aim for the Cubs team is to start nurturing and grooming the future stars of tomorrow, today! They will not be included in the competitive tournaments, but we will develop their skills so that they attain proficiency in all the necessary basics, and then be ready for the next level of development. This program will serve as the fundamental starting base and will take place at the WISC Outdoor Facilities everyday after school. These little Cubs will eventually turn into Indomitable Panthers and represent WISC to the best of their ability. We will use a variety of teaching /training aids to assist in their learning of basic stroke techniques such as the drive, push, smash and basic service. Students will be put to the test using many fun skill challenges, designed to help their understanding of specific strokes and how to execute them to achieve great results.

The goal of the Table Tennis Academy is to put forward the best possible team WISC can produce. Our first target is to compete in local and international competition. All of the training sessions at the outdoor WISC are geared towards performance. The after school sessions will be a mixture of learning advanced strokes such as the loop, chop, flip, lob, advance service and short-game practice, skills development on the tables. A combination of different training tools and on the table practice/play will enable them to learn and progress to the best of their abilities.
